TAAN and KATA Sign MoU to Promote Korean Tourism in Nepal
Kathmandu, The Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) and the Korea Association of Travel Agents (KATA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The memorandum is signed with the objective of strengthening the promotion of Korean tourism in Nepal. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal, Mr. Park Tae-young. The agreement was formally endorsed by TAAN President Mr. Sagar Pandey and TAAN General Secretary Mr. Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa, along with KATA Vice President Mr. Kim Beom-jae and KATA General Secretary Mr. We Young Yang.
According to the MoU, KATA, in coordination with TAAN, will organize various programs, campaigns, and promotional activities aimed at attracting a greater number of Korean tourists to Nepal. The agreement also outlines cooperation in sharing information and technology to enhance the safety and security of Korean trekkers and other visitors in Nepal. In addition, both organizations will take initiatives to encourage Nepali tourists to visit South Korea, thereby promoting two-way tourism.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Park Tae-young stated that the agreement between the two organizations would contribute not only to tourism promotion but also to the expansion of people-to-people relations between Nepal and South Korea. He further expressed the view that bilateral relations could be broadened further in the coming days through the Employment Permit System (EPS) and tourism. KATA Vice President Kim Beom-jae expressed his happiness at collaborating with TAAN and voiced confidence that the partnership would lead to an increase in tourist flow between the two countries.
Highlighting the need to increase the number of direct flights between Nepal and South Korea, TAAN President Sagar Pandey expressed optimism that the MoU would result in a rise in the number of tourists visiting each other’s countries. Similarly, TAAN Chief Executive Officer Mr. Ram Chandra Sedain stated that, in coordination with the Nepal Tourism Board, the Trekking Information Management System (TIMS) would be used to ensure the safety and security of Korean tourists and trekkers visiting Nepal.
