DeerHack, one of Nepal’s leading student-driven hackathons, returns from June 12–14, 2026 at the Deerwalk Complex, bringing together students, developers, designers, and aspiring entrepreneurs to build innovative, technology-driven solutions. Now in its fourth year since its inception in 2023, DeerHack continues to serve as a platform where ideas are transformed into impactful real-world projects.

Since its launch, DeerHack has grown into a vibrant innovation ecosystem, attracting more than 4,000 applicants, forming over 250 teams, and resulting in the development of 250+ projects across diverse domains including artificial intelligence, education, entrepreneurship, environmental awareness, and social impact.

Among the standout projects developed through DeerHack is Ban Rakshak, an environmental protection system that uses sound sensors installed on trees to detect heavy machinery activity associated with illegal deforestation and automatically alert authorities for rapid response. Another notable project, Reasonet, focuses on helping early-stage founders articulate, validate, and refine their startup ideas, streamlining the often complex journey from concept to execution.

DeerHack 2026 will welcome participants from across Nepal, with representation from nearly all regions of the country, ensuring strong inclusivity and access to innovation opportunities regardless of geographic background. This year also marks an important step forward in expanding international participation, with students from India joining the event, strengthening regional collaboration and cross-border innovation exchange.

While Environmental Sustainability is highlighted as the featured theme of DeerHack 2026, it is intended as a source of inspiration rather than a restriction. Participants are encouraged to explore ideas across any domain, ranging from software and AI to social impact and entrepreneurship, while being inspired to think about how technology can contribute to a more sustainable future.

The three-day event will feature collaborative hack sessions, mentorship from industry professionals, workshops, and project showcases. DeerHack aims to foster creativity, problem-solving, and innovation by giving students the platform, resources, and community needed to turn ideas into meaningful solutions.

Looking ahead, DeerHack envisions becoming a globally connected innovation platform, with future editions aiming to welcome participants from Europe, North America, and other regions worldwide. This expansion reflects its mission of building a diverse, international community of young innovators solving real-world problems together.

“Fawning over innovation” remains the guiding philosophy of DeerHack, reflecting its commitment to nurturing curiosity, creativity, and bold thinking among young innovators.
